Are you a truth seeker? Or light worker? Then you know, getting beyond the barrage of thoughts is essential to stepping into the authentic self. Daily life offers many opportunities to stay present and mindful. However,  we are often in autopilot and aimlessly go through the day. Remaining mindful takes practice. The first step is to recognize what you are doing. Be present in the doing of whatever. Present making tea. Present washing your hands. Present doing you job. Keep the mind on the task at hand. Keep the mind focused. When you daydream and look out the window you are focused and mindful. Keep that same focus on tasks.

As you gain awareness in each moment you’ll recognize the habit patterns that brought you this moment. These patterns are unconscious and to notice them you’ll need to bring your full attention to this moment. Belief patterns are created from the conditioning of the past (early childhood) that are not resolved.

Once you recognize the habit pattern, for example one is “I don’t feel confident.” Ask yourself, “How can I feel confident?” What is needed to experience confidence? This might take time to answer. Wait for the answers before moving on.

Let’s say the answer is, “I don’t feel confident because my parents never encouraged me to be successful.” What is needed to feel confident? Repeat a daily mantra: I am confident, I am confident and start believing in personal confidence. Take a course or class you’ve wanted to take and complete the tasks. This is outward confidence. You’ll be able to see your progress and build confidence. Join a gym or hiking class and gauge your weekly progress. This will build confidence too.

Recap

  • First, recognize the pattern.
  • Second, change the pattern. Disrupt the pattern in some way. Let’s say you put yourself down when you don’t feel confident. To disrupt the pattern you would stop putting yourself down and recite a mantra: I am Confident.

Mindfulness is the ability to stay present in the moment without being pulled into the past or day dream into the future. When we day dream into the future its most always because we are not happy in the moment. When triggered into the past is because we have not yet resolved it.

The commentary in the mind is made up of past hurt. It’s unresolved emotional memory. The ego mind loves old stories. Its part of the mind that adores drama.

Mindfulness takes practice. Next time you find yourself reacting over anything in life ask yourself, “Why am I reacting?” Once you get a good answer then you can solve it.
